Wow, it's been a long time since I came into Classroom 2.0 and added to the site in any way. I have been so busy with other tasks. I started my own blogsite and have been working on that. I have written articles for Terry Freedman and Steve Hargedon. I have interned at the Webcast Academy, learning to produce and host online shows.…

I have set up so many goals for myself this summer that now I sit here stuck..wondering how to begin. Do I start with my writing program which I decided to revamp for next year? Do I look into GoogleEarth, which seems to keep drawing me back? Do I set up my own wiki, since I've only participated in them, not set them up? Do I contact all my new collaborative friends and set up a conference call to discuss plans for the year?
I'm reminded of an old poem from A. A. Milne in one of the…

This morning, before school began, Christine Southard and I decided to try out our new webcam. So Christine sent out an SOS asking for friends to help us play and we got a great response. We spoke first with Ginger, who graciously turned on her camera even though it was early morning in Kansas (You looked fabulous, Ginger). We played around with the camera and had fun. Then David J. checked in from Texas. At this point, after we figured out how to get David into our call, we realized the…

Right before April vacation, I went to a fantastic conference - A Celebration of Teaching and Learning, sponsored by PBS, among others. The focus of the conference was technology and global awareness. One of the speakers was Alan November. It was from his speech that I learned about rss feeds and aggregates, blogging, podcasting, vodcasting, delicious, and social networking.
So here I am, just two months later, feeling exhilarated and overwhelmed all at the same time. We, Christine…

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!
That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.
Do you mind passing my message along to students and your HS colleagues again?
Thanks,
Jack

wiziq has probably changed a lot since you last use it. Also Flash has gotten better. :)
With your interest in web 2.0 stuff I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
I am looking for a good blog that can be monitored, is not blocked by schools, and students can set up their own blogs. You said in a post that you use Blogmeister. How do you like it? How do you get an account?
