Hello - My name is Laura and I am a soon-to-be primary teacher hoping to be placed at an international school September this year. Before I have even walked into a classroom I know that PD is going to be a very important aspect of my career. By joining this group I hope that I maybe able to share some of my very limited experiences to the benefit of all and that I also in turn may learn from you.
Wow - that was a pretty formal introduction... I've just had two days of interviews so everything that comes out of my mouth sounds like I'm addressing the UN :)

PS: I hope you have all have Elizabeth's blog in your RSS feed manager... she is a wealth of knowledge... It's like going to a PD course every time I read it :)

Hi Cem, your post reminded me of one resource, located at http://lang-8.com/. I have a colleague who has a son in high school. He uses this site to learn the Japanese language from someone. In turn her son also teaches his Japanese counterpart English. I think that is a cool idea. Perhaps you will get some ideas for your project by visiting the site. BJ

Dear colleagues,

We are working on a project on how we can utilize Web 2.0, not only Social networking, in foreign language teaching. Your contributions, suggestions, and ideas are highly appreciated. I will keep you informed about the progress. Please let me know if you are interested.

Kind regards.

Aloha BJ, yes, there will be classroom visitations during the year and a follow up survey before the end of the year. I'm not sure if it is part of a larger study. There is a mainland consultant the school is working with and our sister school on the Big Island is also participating. I'll keep you posted. Our challenge will be to provide a variety of PD since some of the participants are high flyers and others are very new to technology. It's a wide spectrum of abilities. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Lynne! How exciting to hear from someone in Hawaii! Will there be any type of formal, or ongoing, evaluation of the pilot at your school? It should be a fun project with many of them asking for opportunities to grow with Excel and Web 2.0. I look forward to hearing more about how it goes. Thanks for sharing.

Aloha BJ! I do the same thing you do. I work with elementary teachers assisting them with technology integration. Our school is doing a PD pilot in this area. We have 12 teachers of various skill levels taking part. They took 2 surveys that assess their skill and integration levels and then we will map out a plan to give them PD in the areas they feel they need/want help. Most of them want to learn Excel and Web 2.0. for the classroom. It's exciting.

Good Evening, I am an Instructional Technology Specialist and my primary role is planning, developing, and delivering professional development to teachers. It is a job I enjoy a great deal. I am particularly interested in the integration of Web 2.0 technology across the curriculum. I work primarily with elementary teachers, with some work with middle and high school teachers as well.

HI, My name is Karen (my friends call me Kiki) and I am one of fourteen facilitators at Frisco ISD. I was a classroom teacher for 14 years and completed my Masters in Educational Technology in 2002. August 2008 will begin my seventh year at Frisco ISD as a Technology Integration Facilitator (TIF).

As a Technology Integration Facilitator, my primary duties are: assisting educators in integrating technology into their curricula, curriculum writing and multiple staff developments.

I am currently facilitating a book study for Frisco ISD educators interested in learning the what’s and why’s about Web 2.0 and how it may be applied into their classroom curricula. Please visit our blog, http://web20bookstudy.blogspot.com/. I am presenting in a mini conference (this Saturday) on how I utilized Web 2.0 tools for the book study....Hope it goes well....
Peace!

Hi, I'm a classroom teacher (English and computer skills) for 7th and 8th grade in a 6-12 building. Also tasked with training teachers in word/excel/powerpoint/outlook/internet skills. Looking for ways to help teachers become more effective in using technology on a shoe-string (of course). Did a survey to see what interested them and when they wanted classes (on PD days, not after school). Starting from almost ground zero, so looking for ideas.

Hi, I'm a Web 2.0 developer with a background in Adult Education. I spent four years as the Technical Director of the Centre for Education and Work and now have launched a cloud computing professional development platform. I just wanted to let you know about it. It is a value resource to deliver PD over the internet. http://www.dojolearning.com.
