  • Ginger Lewman

Welcome to the Distance Collaborations group! Feel free to speak up anytime! If your class would like to connect with a small school in the Central US, let me know!
  • Kevin

Hello kiddo! Your job sounds great. Connecting to Ginger is a good idea. I hope you have a great year! : )
  • Ginger Lewman

Ah ha! I re-visit your page here and of course I see Kevin's fingerprint! But he does send all the right people to me. I guess you didn't fall into my sights, but more was pushed there! ;-)

    Jess,

I think your students are terribly lucky. Imagine a language teacher letting students use the net!

I have a ning at eflclassroom . Please drop in and say hello, a lot of the discussions, especially the technology end, would be of interest to you. Many teachers also have lived/worked in China though mostly from Korea for the moment.
    Cheers,

    David

Hey Jess! Thanks for the friend add and I can't wait to get things started with new resources this school year with my students.
  • Annie Gentithes

Hi Jess! Thanks for the friendship. I am looking forward to putting our heads together a bit. I teach a unit on the Chinese American immigrant experience where the students make movies about Chicago's Chinatown. I am hoping that we might be able to get our kids together somehow.

I've also just begun working with Twitter, and I know I have a lot to learn about applications in the classroom. It's amazing how they can really run with new technology with a simple introduction.
  • Anne Mirtschin

Hello Jess, thanks for being my friend. Look forward to working with you both online and offline. Thanks for all your help so far.

  • JoNelle

Hi Jess, Creating a project together is fantastic. My students, parents- and I - will be thrilled. i'll look around a bit for ideas and let's get together. Let me know what tools you are interested in incorporating. This is just our second week in school and we started with a bang with new plans this year. Are you interested in any video projects? claymation maybe? One of my next projects needs to incorporate video and I will use student remote devices to conduct surveys, ask questions, ect as part of lesson when viewing.
Looking forward to working with you,
    JoNelle
  • Ginger Lewman

Yes, still interested! The blur of the first part of the year is starting to subside, so we can talk. Maybe sometime this evening (your morning) or over the weekend? You're 15 hours ahead of us here: http://tinyurl.com/w9p3

    我现在工作在北京,而我的妻子在连云港上班. 我把你的想法已经告诉她. 连云港是江苏北部的一座海滨城市,距离南京320KM,如果再来江苏,欢迎到连云港.

    Hi Jess
Just found you wrote on my Classroom 2.0 page in October and I didn't reply - how rude of me. I am SO sorry - please forgive me! Email at school has been mucking about for weeks and not delivering messages or delivering them weeks after they were sent etc.
Sounds a good idea except I don't have Skype (must get it!!) but could do Flashmeeting or MSN or whatever! let me know xx
  • Grant Boulanger

Hi Jess. thanks for adding me. I joined a while ago because this site looks really promising as a specialized networking tool, but, boy, life is busy. I haven't done a thing on my page at all! I have browsed some of the discussions, and I gather you found me because I joined the digital languages group. I want to thank you for your great blog. I've plugged it many times in presentations I do for other staff. Your delicious bookmarks are great too! You must either be superwoman or you don't have as many diapers to change as I have... ;)
  • Grant Boulanger

Hi, Jess. Do you know about fluencyfast.com? They just released an 8 disc DVD set for learning Mandarin using the TPRS method- might be an interesting addition to your classes. It's cheap to, 45$ US...
  • James Edward Charles Webber

i will if ok go ahead and add you as a twitter

    im jimswim by the way
  • Matt Montagne

    Hey Jess-

Nice to 'meet' you in webcast academy today! Look forward to working with you more throughout the experience. Also, I'm going to put you in touch with our high school Chinese teacher, Ms. Lu Laoshi. Her blog address is: http://ilovechinesei.blogspot.com/

It might be fun to do a recording with you and our Mandarin teacher at my school at some point in our Webcast Academy experience.

I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation...I'm so jealous!!!

  • Aaron Bray

Thanks for the warm welcome. I don't use my skype a whole lot any more, but I'll keep an eye out for you when I'm on there. Do you have a certain textbook/software/website you like to use for your class, or is it too numerous to list here? I know that Australia is way ahead of the U.S. in Chinese education. By the way, I see you went to Monash. I have some friends who went there! -Aaron-
  • Aaron Bray

I checked out the technolote page, but it seems I need to create my own blog to become your friend. Taking baby steps with the technology, so I don't know if I'm ready for that yet, but I will check it out periodically to see what you are doing in your classroom. Cheers!
  • Helen Otway

    Hi Jess,
Saw that you were presenting at ICTEV. I look forward to it.
    Helen
  • Tina Wilkinson

  • Deniz

Hi Jess! Thanks for adding me! :) I'll be very happy to share experience and info about the technologies that can be used in language instruction. I'm trying to familiarize myself with the site and I think I need to spend more time on it. I just checked out some of your photos. They're cool! :) I hope to finish with my dissertation soon which is related to the use of digital techs in teaching listening skills. Hope to keep in touch! Deniz
  • Jeff Utecht

    Hi Jess!

Sorry haven't found anyone. It's a busy time of year and the "curriculum" once again is something teachers feel like they have to do rather then learning.....ug. I'll keep trying though. I need more teacher willing to take a risk!
  • Yingmei Zhu

    Dear Jess,

I have seen the messages and welcome to Shanghai in September.

    Hi Jess!
I replied your message a few hrs ago.:) I am looking forward to starting the project. These days, I am busy with the portfolio presentation of my students. Still, I'll be able to have some extra time to manage the project.
Please, no worries about the timing! I think, it will work very well! :)
Tomorrow, I will start adding the photos of my students and our school on the Wiki page.
    Cheers! :)
  • Neli Maria Mengalli

    Dear Jess,

    Thanks for accept.

    Warm Regards,

    :)
  • Chris Hebbard

    Hi Jess,
Thanks for your help. I don't know whats going on. I cannot change my page or edit my profile or blog or anything. I feel hopeless. I cannot even edit my settings, it seems as if it has just frozen. I will try a few different things but if you have any ideas I would appreciate your help.
  • Simon Borgert

    HI Jess,
Thanks for the very entertaining session at the conference on Saturday! I have never really ventured into social networks for educators - I have only really played in other ones! So thanks!
  • Deniz

Hi Jess! Have you had the chance to view our introduction video?Unfortunately, because of some technical problems I could only upload the video today. Looking forward to hearing your comments!
    Cheers!
  • Dave Clift

Are you still using twitter in the classroom. I was initially interested (having just jumped on board myself) and started a discussion about it but others weren't so keen on my behalf. Has it been a positive experience in your classroom?
  • Lisa Hill

Hello Jess - we 'met' at the Knowledge Bank Online Conference!
    Lisa http://lisahillschoolstuff.wordpress.com/
  • Joanne Blannin

Sorry it took so long to get back to you - yes we are interested in the lunch box project - we could offer french and maybe greek :)
let me know how its going !
  • kosh

I am relatively new here. I am from Ghana and I'm just here to learn, contribute as well as link up with like-minded people who will be willing to share their experiences as well as help in spreading the concept of distance learning and adult education to Africa, which lags behind as far as education is concerned. hope to find a friend in you.
  • robynlesleyfox

Thanks Jess. I work with Bretter Lockyer at Overnewton but am a relatively new arival from Qld. I have been resisting my IWB and being a bit of a whinger about NOT having computers in my classroom. Build a bridge, I say. I have been working with Helen Otway to become an ICT Peer Coach and really want to move back into state education. Thanks for responding to my post. Have a great Sunday!
  • Hans Feldmeier

Great stuff Jess- for that first form, if you could just put down your head's name and a basic admin email address (probly a office@...), that would be great. Then if you enclose your name and email address, you'll be issued your password. When you've done that you'll have Silver Membership of the site and be able to explore and speak to teachers around the world.

If you want your to register your students and take part in projects then you can upgrade for free to Gold membership.
