I'm the author of Bringing Innovation to School: Empowering Students to Thrive in a Changing World (Solution Tree, 2012) and co-author of Reinventing Project-Based Learning: Your Field Guide to Real-World Projects in the Digital Age (ISTE, 2007). Co-author Jane Krauss and I take a worldwide look at how Web 2.0 tools are reinvigorating the project approach. I contribute frequently to Edutopia and the Stanford Social Innovation Review.
When I'm not writing about education, I develop programs that teach people (from youth to adults) how to be problem-solvers in their own communities. I am a member of the National Faculty of the Buck Institute for Education.
I'm delighted to learn that ISTE's special interest group for teacher educators (SIGTE) has selected Reinventing Project-Based Learning as the focus of its 2008 book study group. They are using ning as a tool for building an online community. If you're interested in joining (or just watching how the conversation and community grow on a new ning site), check out http://sigte2008.ning.com/
We've had some great discussions about project-based learning lately. To listen in, check out this podcast from Teachers Teaching Teachers or this recording from ISTE Island in Second Life.
Just started scanning your book--it looks very interesting. I enjoy the way it weaves student and teacher learning.
Regarding filters--You can get a domain for $15/year and pay $5-10/mo and install all the open source web 2.0 tools that you could ever want with almost any web hosting service. Although I suppose it is possible some filter may block it, it is very unlikely. If one had a large school or audience, one might need to expend somewhat more.
Thank you for the welcome, Suzie. I am new to the site but have already learned a great deal by listening to a few of the archived webinars. I'm looking forward to participating in the discussions in the future. Thanks for sharing your expertise in such a positive and encouraging way. I am leading a PLC that next year will be embarking on an effort to be more project-based in our approach to learning/teaching and look forward to continuing my own learning over the summer in preparation for a terrific year!
Hi Suzie and TQ for the welcome. I am very eager in doing all this and am looking for the best time that suits me to join in discussions .Hope it will be very very soon :-)

It's truly amazing how small our world and how large our classroom has become!

Did you get my response. I haven't heard back. I know it is later in the week, but I am willing to do an interview.
