Hello Basit. Have you tried using voicethread? It's a free and it will allow us to communicate using voice, words, or video. My students saw your djembe and wanted to talk with you about drumming. Could we post some of our drumming videos on a voicethread and have you and your students comments? If you can add photos or video to a voicethread, my students could communicate with you and your students. You can use this link to get to the voicethread my students created and try adding comments: http://voicethread.com/#u406170.b674819.i3567443
This link will take you to a video on how to use vociethread and set up your own account: http://voicethread.com/#u406170.b409.i848804
Let me know if you're interested in having our students connect through voicethread.
Look forward to hearing from you. Ken
Basit, the site looks like a good idea and worth trying. You have to be specific on what you need. You may want to start with a good map of the world so that your children can learn about the places people in the world come from, as you and they talk to them on the internet. It's worth a try!
Greeting from Memphis, Tennessee, Basit! My name is Ken Greene and I am the general music teacher and choir director at Ridgeway Middle School here in Memphis. I would be delighted to connect with you and your students. We are working on developing global relationships with educators and students from around the world through technology. My students' work can be viewed on our school music web page: http://web.me.com/knrgreene/RMSMusicMediaNetwork/Welcome.html
We have a world drum squad that has performed music from Ghana. We also had the pleasure of meeting and working with the Spirit of Uganda at a performance they had here in Memphis.
I have posted a voicethread of a video greeting my students prepared in an effort to foster cultural exchange and increase our global perspective. The voicethread, "Hello, world!" is located on my Classroom 2.0 page and at this link: http://voicethread.com/#u406170.b674819.i3567443
My students would love to learn about you and your students, Ghana, and of course, your music! Please let me know if you would be interested in an online cultural exchange and sharing our students' work with one another. I look forward to hearing from you, Basit.
