Just about 60 and retired ( from teaching in Canada). Now I'm teaching esl in Yinchuan, China. We do have access to a computer and projector in the classroom but do not have an internet connection.

Hi Don -- I'd like to invite you to join a Classroom 2.0 group called Canadians Mashup. I'm trying to build a network of Canadian educators and bloggers. No discussions yet. I'm just starting out by trying to find where everyone lives and what they teach. If you're interested, please add me as a colleague as well.
How do you connect with this website -- I guess it must be at home. We have kind of the same challenge because our bandwidth is so strangled we can't get online most of the time, so we are turning to material and resources we can download and work on at home and then take into class.
We will be using Freepath to store and display a lot of stuff as soon as we can get the IT guys to install it for us at school
Check out our student exchange program at http://dragonstudentexchange.ning.com/. Also, consider joining our collaboration of teaching professionals at http://www.nscgroup.org/. It would be a help to me if you could pass the word along to colleagues and friends in Canada to join one or both of these communities. Thanks.
Yes, I'd heard you would be the new English teacher. I'm not sure I'm going to take a faculty apartment this year, as I've got some relationships with other universities that I'm working with, but nonetheless, I'm a very loyal member of the Ningxia Polytechnic University. You'll find it one of the warmest, most supportive communities in the world. I look forward to meeting you and your wife during the school year.
