About Me
I am a social studies and science teacher at the 4th and 5th grade level. I use google docs to create sites where students can post comments about topics we discuss in class. They also use this site to write short reports. I love teaching and would love to find out more about how other teachers stay motivated and excited about learning.

Hey Barbara,

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at

Do you mind telling students and your colleagues again?

Hi Barbara!

Happy New Year! I was wondering if you have any high school or middle school contacts who would be interested in participating in a nationwide Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from Pennsylvania!

You can view contest details at Please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for the information about Everyday Math. I am excited to start using it. I went to hear the sales pitch last year and thought it would be good to try. Thanks, again!

Wonderful! Can't wait to hear about the conference. I'm glad you are getting some time away from the school and time to get inspired about the possibilities. I'll check out your forum on the Sem Ning. Best to you - B

I have some great stuff for your class next year.I'm at San Antonio at NECC. I started a forum on the Sem network that contains my notes.

Hope all is well,

Ok - so what I am wondering is how is this different than our Sem Ning? I realize that there is a larger audience here, but is there anything else that is different? Is there an advantage other than more educators commenting on issues, questions etc...
