Becky- I like you point about being too dependant on technology, I know for myself...I have become very dependant on spell-checker. I am glad that you enjoyed and learned from this video!

After watching the video "A vision of K-12 students today" it made me realize how disconnected I am from my students even though I'm not that far removed from the "technological" age. It also makes me think about our society and what we have come to value and teach our kids. While I agree that students today are bombarded with the latest technological toys and it has affected their ability to stay on task for long periods of time, I wonder if we've catered to the idea that they are "unable" to do this or if we just don't expect enough from them. It also makes me wonder about our standardized tests and how we assess student learning. Most of us grew up taking the paper and pencil test and even though state assessments are mostly on a computer now it seems like the format has not changed and is totally opposite from the learning abilities of this technological generation. How are we going to change this so that we get more accurate results? It was a great video and really put a lot of questions and ideas in my mind. I think all teachers should watch it and evaluate their teaching style and how well they're getting through to their students.
