Reflecting on Educational Technologies

The past couple of weeks have been a study in contrast and application. I've been working with a teacher-student teacher team conducting research in a public school head start classroom. I've watched my student teacher work with 3, 4, and 5-year olds. These preschoolers are using Fischer-Price digital cameras to identify patterns in nature, and within the classroom. I'm finally getting a chance to say hello! Such is the busy teacher's life or at least that of the teacher who is always curious and has their fingers in so many pies.

Thanks for linking me up to the 5 minds for the future discussion. I have so much to add there!!!! Ken and Connie, from reading their posts, seem like my twins. I will jump in this weekend for sure and say my piece......

I'm especially interested in technology so especially intersted in more discussions here and classroom 2.0 in general. I think of all the disciplines, my own, 2nd language acquisition , EFL , has the greatest debt to one day be owed to technology. So many possibilities and so few really digging and turning the soil. I hope to be one of them who grows some roots here and issues some fruit.

One thing I find with technology. Too often it is a "new' thing and taught passively. I really feel technology must be learnt through the backdoor, as young kids learn it. Give them a goal elsewhere and the technological learning comes with it. Use is letting loose......
