Isn't it great to see how thrilled the kids get when someone notices their work--especially when it's someone so far away...loving the blogs!
I will be trying notebooking for the first time in an outdoor science unit that three of us teachers in our school are piloting. The unit is from the Missouri Conservation Department. I think the notebooking will be very effective since the students are observing outdoor conditions each day. But I know just the basics about notebooking and I'm sure there is lots to it. I will check out your blog on this!
my History Comes Alive...(cemetery) project feels that way at times. It is ongoing...one class passes the torch to the next. I have found it a little easier to fit it all in by going cross-curricular...we read, write about the people who are memorialized there, learn about weathering and. erosion for science, perimeter for math, etc all centered around the cemetery, for a few weeks. The cemetery is then our "curricular anchor". Have you done cross-curricular work with the composting at all? Are you doing notebooking in science?
