115 Smiles

Here is one of my favorite paintings by Bren Bataclan. The mural in our school hallway is a collaboration between the third graders and Bren illustrating the third grade curriculum. Next week he is going to leave 115 of his smile paintings in NYC on September 9, 10th. If a person finds the painting there is a note on it that says, 'This painting is yours to keep if you promise to smile at people more… Continue

Believe in...

I've seen the video of Dalton Sherman, the 10 year old speaking to incoming teachers this year in Dallas. He's an amazing speaker, but I have more to say on the subject... as usual!

Oh... The places we go.

According to comScore, a Web data tracker, Americans spent 302 billion minutes online last month. That's 6,760 lifetimes at 85 years apiece.

Grade 4 Children are Fantastic

Today I decided to ask my Grade 4 students what they wanted to learn about in IT and about computers. I thought I would start small in an area I am working on myself and see what they wanted rather than doing what I think they want or should know.

I got the idea from a small homework assignment I gave them this week about our class website. Bookmarking was something I asked them to do with our site and most of them indicated they didn't know how to do that but wanted to learn to do… Continue

Finally Back in Business!

So, the summer has passed and we're back in school. The new pupils seem so small and the nine-graders seem so big. It's funny how everything repeats itself. Don't get me wrong. I love it.

This year is going to be my second time moving towards the advantages of the 2.0 classroom. My best group have created accounts on Google where we have our own group. So far, they've only posted two assignments, but I plan on giving them something chewier (haven't decided what,… Continue

Wondershare PPT2Flash for shockwave in Powerpoint

After another teacher asked me how to put swf files into powerpoint I recalled how complicated this was, but with many teachers having resources already in Powerpoint rather than Smart Notebook it was a matter of finding a way for teachers to insert flash and movie, record narration in ppt. And even it could add our teachers' video and narration along with the PowerPoint courses.

Then I remembered Wondershare PPT2Flash that is great for… Continue
