Landmark 2008 Project coming to a close ...

The tallying is about to begin - we are coming to the end of the 3-week Kidlink Landmark 2008 game. Kids from many different countries have been exchanging questions during the past 15 school days, narrowing questions, drill-down type questions, trying to decode the clues to find a specific landmark on the face of the Earth. Is it in Egypt? Does it have anything to do with a temple? Was it famous during the 1800's? and so forth. I'll compile the lists of… Continue

Cross posted from the Global Education Collaborative ning:

Becoming More Literate Daily

I recently posted my response to Warlick's steps to 21st century literacy. I have completed one of the steps on my to do list. I have created a wiki for my network of teachers to share ideas, links, etc. The hard part is getting my intended audience to buy into it since we meet face to face on a regular basis. Anyway, it is a step closer to literacy. I have a lot to add to it, but it is a… Continue

New inputs to interact with 3D virtual environments

I have said in past posts direct input is to 3D environments what the mouse is to flat ones. Which is basically the point of Mitch Kapor in this article - http://www.news.com/8301-13772_3-9873205-52.html?tag=tb — We are using surface devices with Edusim now of course … but as other more natural forms of input emerge I can see this having an impact in immersive education as well.…

physics course

Hello, my name is kevin. For my final project i am building a course in physics that applies Web 2.0 to a lesson unit. It's all about transforming the classroom to 21st century learning. Right now i'll be focusing mainly on an introduction to physics involving online instruction. For example: Distant time graphs, Velocity time graphs, solving problems algebraically, etc. I could really use some helpful ideas on how to go about building my course.

What research says about project-based learning

Hi all,
I just posted a blog that might interest classroom 2.0'rs. What research says about project-based learning. Lots of teachers looking at technology in the classroom find that technology and projects go really well together. But it's not easy to implement project-based learning in the traditional classroom. There are lots of ideas here that might be helpful!

Podcasting and the Super 3 - Build Reading and Writing Fluency

Podcasting can improve your child’s reading and writing skills. It’s true. The steps of the Super 3 plan / do / review to create good podcasts require many skills. Students communicate with peers, think through ideas, write (or type), talk, record, evaluate, and edit-edit-edit. Their favorite part seems to be the challenge of making a satisfying recording. Students repeatedly listen and record and build fluency skills with each… Continue

Exchange Teacher Group

If you've landed here because I invited you to join Classroom 2.0. You're not quite finished yet. I need you to join the Exchange Teacher group I've created.

I created this group for a few simple reasons.

  1. I see a need for a social network for teachers who have participated in an exchange program. I think we could all benefit from sharing experiences.
  2. I think this would also help promote the…

A.P. Calculus in web 2.0

My name is Mackenzie Proe and I am a student at Millis High School, Millis, MA. I am taking a web 2.0 class this year and I am trying to find different ways to apply web 2.0 in the classroom. I have chosen A.P. Calculus as my subject, and I am looking for any insight as to how web 2.0 can help students learn objectives faster and better. An A.P class is mainly on how to take the A.P. test and score to get college credit. With this in mind, there are many deadlines that teachers have to follow… Continue

E- Learning

There is a sudden surge in the demand of online tutoring in countries like USA and UK.

Online tutoring has gained unexpected popularity and the primary reason is the ever increasing usage of computers and Internet worldwide. Online tutoring works much the same way as the traditional one-on-one physical tutoring does.

With increased connection and data transfer speed students and tutors can now engage online at the same time as in a physical classroom. Using some advanced technology,… Continue
