Blended learning is a formal education program in which a student learns at least in part through online delivery of content and instruction with some element of student control over time, place, path, and/or pace.
What do you notice about the implementation procedures?

I have been fortunate enough to use and experiment with interactive whiteboards. Specifically, I had a permanent SMART Board in my last classroom, and I currently have access to reserve the classroom/computer lab with a SMART Board.
From my experience, classrooms with ample space near the front of the room or the area where the SMART Board is located provide for the best student-interactions. Moreover, spaces where projectors can be hung from the ceilings provide the least amount of…

Ever wondered how we manage the tensions that exist between education systems and natural development?

The work in this class keeps on building, and surprisingly, I keep learning some great ideas for my classroom. It is sad to say that this is the last week of school for my students, and tonight at our 5th grade promotion, I know I will cry my eyes out. Though I have only been at JRES for 4 months, it feels like my home, and these students, my children. I just hope that they leave here taking some valuable pieces of education with them. One of a teachers only goals in life is to positively…

I have always found irony in the any of those books for dummies. People think they are dumb in a subject matter and think I need this book to learn something in this area. As humans, we are so quick to bully our selves by calling our selves “dumb or stupid “when we have trouble understanding concepts. We are afraid to ask questions or dare I say dare answer I question for fear of giving the answer wrong and getting embarrassed. In essence, we bully ourselves to believe we are dumb and…

This has been a busy, final week at school. Working full time and taking online classes has proven to be a tad bit difficult. I am so ready to actually have a license, but until then, I truck on. This week I learned some valuable information on how to better my classes and keep my students involved in their education and updated in the field of technology. I am excited to say that many of the things I have learned so far have inspired me to "technologically update" the way I…

This year has been the year of MOOCs for me, and it seems the rest of the world. I started with DNLE at Stanford, the first MOOC I actually finished. (My first MOOC was edfutures with Dave Cormier in 2010 but I kind of petered out after 6 weeks)
In September I started working with Alec Couros and his many co-conspirator on #…

This site was actually kind of weird. It did not help me to understand how this could really be used in a classroom setting, other than the fact that you could do mapping for story lines. Though the site was interesting, it was not…

Week 3 is here! This class is flying by, and I am enjoying myself all the while! There were some awesome websites that we looked at this week, and many that I would feel comfortable using in my classroom. Miss Sarah's Spanish class is definitely benefitting from this online class. I find myself preparing for next year, using all of the great new technology resources that I have found. This is a big deal for me, because technology has not been very present in my classroom as of yet. To add to…

I am writing this as part of a class assignment. My mission (whether I chose to accept it or not) was to conduct a web search of a classroom technology of my choice, then I was to list three ways of integrating the technology with classroom teaching, add some ideas of my own, and list any other technologies that would be needed along with the one I chose to research.
I chose to research mini laptops, simply because I don’t know very much about them. Apparently, there are teachers…

Today is a day to celebrate and pay tribute to this musical genius. Teachers, students, lovers of music, everyone, can take a journey back in time and meet Tchaikovsky in a way that will captivate all.
Pyotr Tchaikovsky led a somewhat troubled life, despite achieving immense success. He was undoubtedly one of the greatest composers of the Romantic Period. Why…

This week I did a lot of research over the different uses of technology in the classroom. There were many different resources that seems to be immediately helpful. I especially enjoyed learning about the podcasts and tumble books. Both of these new technologies seemed very innovative. Though they were both more interesting than the rest, the idea of pod casts were much newer to me. Though the websites were very easy to maneuver and gather information, I think that it goes beyond that. To use…
