I just received an email from a colleague with the following cool links:

About a month and a half ago I did a presentation for my fellow teachers on "Application of the Open Source model to Education". The presentation itself was a bit long-winded and focused too much on the theory behind the application, rather than some practical examples. My presentation skills aside, the idea itself has merit.
We have a number of problems in education, not the least of which is the lack of an institutionalized memory that anyone can access. It would be nice if we had… Continue

For a while now, I wondered what I could add to Classroom2.0's discussions. What could I do is such a powerful community? Until now, I've stuck to writing and engaging on my own blog.
I was replying to a post on Will Richardson's blog about 'The School of the Future', and for some reason, talked about the issues I face, as a father of a 7 year old with Aspergers Syndrome. I continually argue that he is… Continue
It finally happened. I hit a wall. In doing my International PLP I knew that one of the goals was to push the participants out of their comfort zone. And that has happened to me to a certain point, but I grasped onto the experience and figured that the only way to get the most out of the it… Continue

The web is an expansive collection of the good, the bad and the ugly. Wouldn’t it be great if our students could search online in a safe environment? What if teachers could focus student searches towards specific resources? Sounds complicated and full of java scripts and html?
I am interested in working with all teachers to support them in using 21st century teaching methods and ideas to educate the digital learners in classrooms today. My web site is http://educationrebel.com and my blog is below. Thanks, Jack

This afternoon, I had the opportunity to demonstrate the use of document cameras and interactive white boards to our school's community council. This group includes school administrators as well as teachers and parents. Most of these teachers were unfamiliar with both technologies. They were very excited at what they saw could be done! Parents enjoyed the presentation as well. Of course, I had active Interaction with the IWB. I had parents and teachers at the board moving objects and creating… Continue

I think about the many times I attended professional development or training sessions as a teacher and how often much of it was done at the beginning of the year, during semester transitions or during staff development days throughout the year. Much like this image ironically titled "Creative Strategies for Professional Development," it was a lot of sit… Continue
