Summer blogging

I need recommendations! I am teaching grades 4-9 summer blogging - a one week crash course. Kids are likely to continue blogging after the course ends. They are social creatures.
I would like you to suggest opensource, zero download, safe tools for this bunch. I'm thinking I would like to set these up with safe email, too.
You're the educators, you tell me!

Would David's Class Blogmeister be good for your needs? My students are still blogging and commenting even though school is out. In fact, I approved 5 blogs today and school just ended yesterday. I would like to give them approval rights but am not sure I am ready for them to see what comments might come out over the internet.
