The past two weeks I have signed up for more accounts on the web that I can count - all to learn web 2.0 tools and what will work for my 3-5 technology classes. The plan was to just learn how to create podcasts from start to finish and research ways to use them effectively in my classes. I found all of the directions, tutorials, and ideas I that needed on the web. An afternoon in the book store made me feel better that I was on the right track. The NECC 2007 conference (great) had formal and informal help sessions on podcasting.

For recording and mixing audio, I had already used Audacity (free download) so I stuck with it. I used Podomatic to host my podcasts and after a few snags -success!

I played around and created a place in Blogger (blocked at my school and required a Gmail account - also blocked). More research found Blogmeister and I recalled a session that I went to last year on RSS by David Warlick. An email to him got the access I needed and now blogging is also ready to roll out for my students this new year.

Now I am learning about wikis. I am signed up and ready to experiment. This is how I came upon this network - thank you all for sharing!

Sounds like you are doing great! I host at PodOmatic too-their pre-recorded intros and outtros make it easy for kids. Recording right on the site has not been a successful venture for us, but hosting does work well. We record in Audacity.

I've maintained a personal blog via Blogger for a couple of years now. I really enjoy it. You might be amazed at the number of teacher bloggers out there (some are listed on my sidebar).

Earlier this year, I came across the Common Craft "Wikis in Plain English" video (learned about it from an edublogger) and have begun dabbling in wikis. As a collaborative writing tool, I think that wikis have greater potential than blogs, which I find are better suited for one person rather than many.

A co-worker has challenged me to figure out podcasts. The podcasting links you've left here could be very useful for us. Thanks!

Great videos at common craft! Hopefully I can convince the district to unblock it for school. They have so far been patient with of my constant requests this summer.
I'll check out the bloggers you have, I'm sure it will help me figure out when to blog and when to wiki. (hmmm sounds like a good title for something) Thank you!
