Summer 2008

Posted on June 4, 2008 at 9:40am 0 Comments

Well, I'm finally back in the groove of classroom 2.0. I'm working with the South Central Kansas Writing Project yet again this year and adapting to changes. We have decided to consolidate our technology applications and will be using a ning network instead of a separate site for wikis, blogs and photos. This way I will become more familiar with the technology and be more of a proponent of its use in the classroom.

I am also working for a short time for our Extended School Year… Continue

Lifelong Learner and Teacher?

I am just finalizing my tenure as tech liason with the Buhler site of the South Central Kansas Writing Project this week (sckwp.wikispaces.org) and will move on to the East High School site next week. While I realize that not every teacher is as tech savvy or as open to technology as I am, sometimes I really wonder. What is it about overachieving educators that we can't seem to take time for ourselves? Here we are at the beginning of our "3 month vacation" and in perusing my calendar, I truly only have 3 weeks off. I will be spending 4 weeks serving as tech support for the South Central Kansas Writing Project and will definitely be promoting Web 2.0 applications during that time. I will also be participating in a workshop on podcasting, a workshop on SMARTBoard use and the newest version of Blackboard.…

10 days and counting

Posted on May 14, 2007 at 7:45pm 0 Comments

Well, we've got approximately 10 days of school left. I am one of the lucky few who will have a few extra hours of time since my seniors have left the building. I plan to use that time to consolidate my resources and downsize from 2 classrooms to 1. I don't have to float classrooms anymore! I will be firmly ensconced in the Classroom of Tomorrow for all of my classes next year. What a relief. I will be teaching a new curriculum to the seniors next year and plan to use a few of those hours…

First Timer

This is my first post to this particular blog. I am a late career teacher having graduated in 2003 with a degree in Secondary Eduation - English. I will complete my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction in May 2007 through a cohort program. During the past 2 years I have engaged in action research in my classroom focusing on the effect of technology on student reading comprehension and success in the classroom.

I have embraced using blogs in the classroom just recently. I…

Hi Teralyn. I was wondering if you have students or educator friends who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
