Hi Lindy,

Happy New Year! My resolution is to check back more regularly on all the various social networking/new media sites I sign up for. ;-)

As for what in my Punahou education prepared me best for the real world, that's a relatively easy one. Writing. Punahou created in me a gift and a love of writing that has sustained me throughout all of the various phases of my life, and various careers. It is the one thing that I value most from my education. It's also created some tough questions for me, as I also value providing students multiple ways to demonstrate knowledge, and I feel for those students who struggle with writing as a means of self-expression. Yet, I feel it so important! Shouldn't there be some baseline proficiency in writing that all students must have in order to graduate? And yet, how do we celebrate and encourage students' ability to communicate in other ways?

Nice meeting you here. Also glad to know our school was a source of inspiration for you. Can I ask what ties you have to Punahou? As for contact names for 4th/5th grade teachers, I will get those for you soon. I can tell you that pretty much everyone loves the laptop program - it adds such a new and different dimension to instruction.
