The Head of the Charles

As I was watching the Head of the Charles this afternoon in Cambridge, MA, I was reminded that this would be a great example of teamwork to share with the students. I took a few minutes of video to share with them and then ask them to tell why working as a team is helpful in this race.

Today is Day 101 in the Vendee Globe race. Rich is in ninth place and 5 of the 11 skippers who remain in the race are still at sea. My students and I have been sending Rich email via his http://www.sitesalive.com website link and following him on Google Earth. Try Voki for a book review.  The have to be rally concise because it will only record for 60 or 90 seconds.  We did book reports with it and it was amazing how they had to revise it to fit in the time frame.

Lorraine,  I am leaving Peru in December but I will give your information to the kindergarten teachers and ask them to get in touch.  We close school in December and reopen in March so it would not be till April probably if they want to do it.  How can they get in touch with you?

Thanks for the nice comment. I use a combination of programs to make my book reviews. Probably the key program is Crazy Talk. It is a nice animation software. I also use photoshop for some of the work and I edit in Vegas Video. Crazy Talk can give you some of the animation but you really need a good editing suite to add other movement and such. Hope this helps!

Lorraine, I'd love to hear what you think about our free Educator Toolbar now that you've had it on your desk top for a few months. You can email me directly at mala@cybersmart.org or comment here.

Hello Lorraine and thank your of shaing this. I cannot believe it has been that many months ago that he started out.The start of the race was quite memorable for me with our live blogging. I enjoy his updates on twitter and saw that he had lost some online contact. Fortunately it was in the last few days of his journey. What an amazing feat! Our students will certainly join in. Hi Lorraine. I was wondering if your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Lorraine - i'd love to get your feedback. I should have noted that this toolbar is really organized for teachers in the USA only. But our free student curriculum (same url www.cybersmart.org) is used worldwide.
