Elementary School 2.0

Since elementary teachers have special circumstances to deal with concerning the use of technology, I thought we could meet here to talk and to share ideas for 2.0 integration.

I missed the iPad webinar tonight.  Anyone know if there is a way to see it now or get some notes?

Thanks!

Hi, I'm a teacher from Sri Lanka who likes to share the experiences and ideas with others and collaborate with others. I like to share my experience of this field with all of you. Please see this video and give me your ideas.

Hi everyone, I am new here and was looking around for ideas on how to incorporate technology in a K-1 self-contained classroom.

Hi Every One

How have you been? Kindly Donate any amount & I also wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for all the support that you have given St Mark  Institute Of Health Sciences  in the past! Your support has helped in buying medicine which has helped in treatment of thousands of children and we also wanted to tell you about an exciting new opportunity for St Mark  Institute Of Health Sciences !

We have been selected by the GlobalGiving Foundation to participate in its Open Challenge, a fundraising opportunity for nonprofit organizations working around the world.

In order to succeed in GlobalGiving’s Open Challenge, St Mark  Institute Of Health Sciences must raise $4,000 from 50 donors by 31st August 2011 threshold, we will be given a permanent spot on GlobalGiving’s website, where we have the potential to benefit from corporate relationships, exposure to a new donor network, and access to dozens of online fundraising tools. In addition, we could earn as much as $3,000 in financial prizes for raising the most money.

Please help us reach the threshold of $4,000 from 50 donors! Be one of the first people to make a donation at http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/children-hospital/  Not only will your donation help in Building Childrens Hospital In Uganda but, it will help us take advantage of a long-term fundraising opportunity!

We’re also going to need your help spreading the word! Please share this opportunity with your friends and family!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support!

Best,
Cyprian G. Dusabe

I have not implemented any social media or the like but am eager to try some next year. I have set up an account with KidBlog.org and think that this will be the best way to get my kids writing together, collaboratively in math, reading, and language (the only subjects I'll get to teach). Before I begin, I'm going to go through a unit on Digital Citizenship and Internet Safety from the resources on Common Sense Media. Students will be earning "Digital Passports" before being allowed to use our blog, ePals, and other sites I'm looking into for digital storytelling, etc.

I'd be greatful to hear any thoughts, opinion, tips, or ideas on incorporating technology into these areas for fifth graders. I figure this year will kind of be like a trial run. :)

Hello Everybody,

Can't remember if I ever responded to this request for an introduction.  I am a grade 2 Spanish bilingual teacher in Calgary, AB.  I am always searching for authentic ways to use technology in the classroom and am finding lots of barriers from my school board to do this.  Nevertheless, I try to work around these while still maintaining the safety of my students as they begin to navigate social media.  For example, this year my students participated in a month long "slice of life" challenge on the Two Writing Teachers blog site.  I look forward to hearing about others' ideas for how to get kids' writing/ideas/thinking out there and responded to by others.

Cheers!

Hello Donna :)

A community of elementary teachers sharing and encouraging each other can also be found on Twitter. There is an elementary chat that happens each week about a topic voted on by the participants. Here are the chat archives: http://elemchat.wikispaces.com/Archives+%26+Summaries

If your not sure about how Twitter works just have a look at this: http://www.commoncraft.com/twitter

Hope to see you there,

Laura Wright :)
