    Hey Jack,

Cool idea. I'll use my contacts in Washington to spread the word.
  • Sheri

I'm planning on sharing this information with my grade eight students; I think they will be intrigued and a little intimidated. I hope they accept the challenge! Thanks for the link and invitation.
  • Sheri

Thank you, Jack for encouraging my students. I actually teach in Nespelem, but they'll get the point-- and the encouragement. :)

Hi Jack, sorry just now getting back to your Feb 1. posting/question as I've been away for a bit. Although most of my colleagues are elementary and middle school teachers, I will forward this website to some of the high school teachers in the county in which I teach. Looks very interesting!
  • Kawika Kane

    Aloha Jack,

Sorry it took a while for me to reply. I am still getting use to this.

Just wanted you to know that my SAT kids are finishing up videos this week for the video contest at BrainyFlix :)

  • Cheryl Capozzoli

    Hi Jack,
Sorry about the delay, I will ask around. Do you have more detail about the project?
  • Dawn Nelson

Hi, Jack. One of our 8th grade classes will be adding entries to BrainyFlix soon. Our district received an E2T2 grant in which we have been developing different video projects and this is a perfect place to explore the possibilities. The deadline is March 16 and posting them is on the schedule for next week.

    Jack, tell me more...

Hi... I think my third grade students are a little young... but... I can forward the information to the HS teachers... Let me know more...U
  • Bea Cantor

Hi Jack! We did have students participate. Sorry I didn't see your comment earlier. This is a busy time of the year for me.

You can see examples on our Language Art's teacher's blog.
  • Amy

I would be happy to look at the information about this project if you could send some my way. If it doesn't work for me I will pass it on to one of our other teachers that it would work better for since I do only have 3rd graders (although I do have to say they are pretty hard workers this year!). If you could send it to my school email I will get it a lot sooner. That address is aminneman@berlin-milan.org. Thanks!
  • Blanca

Hi Jack - thanks for the message. I will most certainly take this info and pass it along. Sounds like fun! My groups will post a video this week too! Maybe a math related one since we're prepping for Math assessments this month. Keep up the good work and keep me posted about new info! Thanks!
  • Erika Steele

    HI Jack
Sounds like a neat idea. I am not interested for my own students at this time but will mention it at the high school. Thanks for the invite.
  • Christine

Jack sounds great ! I would love to have my students participate.
  • Buck Jones

Thanks for inviting our school district to take part in the SAT Video contest... I read the message a bit late for participating (today-March 7!), but feel free to update me on other similar opportunities. -- Buck
  • Deb

Hi Jack, Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I looked at the site and it looks like great. Please keep me in the loop for future events. Deb
  • Steve Guditus

Hi Jack - I just got your message about the BrainyFlix...sorry I didn't see your message sooner! The deadline is in a week, so I can see if we'll have the time to put things together. Please keep me posted on any other going-ons with MIT and participation/workshops you all might have - for students or teachers.

    Thanks -

Hi Jack, While we can't participate this year, we most definitely will next year in the SAT video project. Great opportunity for short pieces of creative thinking.

I can start marketing, but I too assume I'm too late. Sorry.

  • James Gubbins

Congrats on a successful project! I'm passing the new info on to my building tech managers now.
  • Laurie Strand

The videos were great, but it would be an even better project if kids would be required to proof read their work and make sure they have the definitions right. I ran into some weird stuff going through the videos/flashcards. Made me a little hesitant to use them in my teaching.
  • Jeff Dolce

Hi Jack. I just passed the info on. I echo the comment below about proofreading for accuracy, and congratulations.

Not a problem. I will try it with my seventh graders this time around. Good news--next year I will be teaching freshman English. I can't wait. I hope that you receive more entries from our school. Good luck and thank you for the project.
  • Harry Dickens

Jack I will send this email out to some folks I know.
  • BJ Bagwell

Hi Jack, I will pass this right along. BJ
  • Klista Lawyer-Reynolds

    Sure thing!
  • Yanaka Bernal

Can do. I will submit the contest to our DE tech mailing list.

  • Laurie Strand

Well, we teachers need to do a better job of teaching our students the life skills of: 1) thinking about and planning a project 2) collaborating and getting feedback 3) proofreading and double checking anything that's going public. Maybe in the contest instructions you could emphasize the need for these steps. I think your idea of "voting down" error ridden material is great for a short term solution. It would be a useful exercise for my students to pick out the mistakes we find and write their own corrections.
  • Maria Found

    Will do!
  • Cathy Gassenheimer

Will do! Glad it was so successful.
  • Nancy Trice

Jack, we had so much fun with brainyflix and especially liked the publicity afforded by the local newspaper article. Unfortunately schools in our area are dismissed for the summer by Memorial Day. I'm not sure that my colleagues can squeeze in another project before we head into AP exams, graduation and then finals for the underclassmen. I'll give it a shot.
  • Rose Fry

    Thanks, Jack. Will do
  • MattyB

    Hi Jack,
We'll pass the word around on the new contest. It's math and science MCAS crunch time in Massachusetts, so time will be at a premium but we'll see what we can get done. Even teachers and students that didn't submit were intrigued with the concept of the last contest. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

  • Jacqueline Sanchez

    Hi Jack-
No problem. I will pass this on to some of my HS colleagues. Hopefully, they can squeeze it in.. Thanks
    Jacqueline
  • Sarah Zykanov

I'll spread the word again, no worries, teachers will enjoy seeing the work done so far.
  • Shawn

I'll see about getting it on next week's Middle School Matters podcast (www.middleschoolmatters.com). Thanks for the heads up and I hope the contest goes well!
