Hi nancy...
I m a student of electronics engineering.I have Classroom 2.0 as my term project for ICT (Information and Communication technology) course.
MY project specifics are: How to efficiently use the available Classroom 2.0 online resources to increase learning/ productivity?
I have few questions regarding the Classroom 2.0 as follow:
1. When was Classroom 2.0 launched for general public officially?
2. What else or which organization or people were involved with Steve Hargadon in the creation?any co founders?
3. Who sponsored it?
4. What is there for a student in classroom 2.0?Other than reviewing or commenting on other teachers blogs?
Thanks for your time.
You got a great thing going.CHeerz.

Funny you should mention the moon phases cookie thing. I saw that on line and tried it at home...I got so sick on cookies before I realized the students were supposed to use the mini-oreos not the regular full size oreos :) I ran out of time and didn't get to do it but I might revisit during our end of year review. I also want to do the pringle project that you have posted somewhere. I'm getting lots of great ideas from you. Thank you for being so willing to share resources, ideas, and student work.
Hi Nancy,
I know you're really busy, so if you don't have the time to check this out, I totally understand.
In December I had never seen a Wiki. My students and I jumped in with both feet and haven't looked back. The students are very excited to have a real audience. If you have time, please take a look at what they've created so far. RPG Maker XP Help. We would appreciate any feedback you have. Currently the wiki is protected, so you'll have to either email me your feedback or give it through Classroom 2.0.
Thanks!

Hi Nancy, I think I probably have an answer about why it is good to have "colleagues" on 2.0. I have found some also on twitter and it's a bit easier for a "Newbie" like me to keep track of everyone I've been collaborating with.
I recently heard that you can view archives of old webinars in Classroom 2.0. When I click on the 2.0 Live site, I get a message that says I can't view the page and says the page requires a login. But I'm already logged in to Classroom 2.0 and it doesn't give a place to log in to the Live site. Can you help?
The photo is incredible! I was a PC Volunteer in Cameroon 1980-81 as a TEFL teacher and translator for USAID.The global impact of technology reaches far beyond our imagination I am sure.....
Nancy, I started my own NING just a few days ago and I have really enjoyed setting it up and thinking of all of the possible uses of it. I found this site by accident and I am so glad that I did! It is perfect! But, as a real newbie to all of this, I would like to know if there is a group or a site for people who are just starting out with Ning etc. I have lots of silly simple questions that seem to take me ages to figure out. The main question I have right this minute is HOW can I post a video on just a group page? I do not want the video to be on the main page...I just need to know if it is even possible to post a video and pictures exclusively on one group page and not another. HELP! BFM - your newest member.
Yes, I am at a college and I am just now exploring all of this 2.0 stuff. Better late than never I guess. So, do you know if I can add a video or photos to one particular group exclusively? I do not want what I add to groups to be on my main page and I cannot seem to get around that. I will try the site you suggested also. Thanks! I am a bit overwhelmed, but anxious to learn!
Nancy,
I am a newbie to web 2.0 , but love the concept! I have always been a fan of authentic assessments , but at times I find the readability of articles and the search process challenging for fifth and sixth- grade students. I frequently make theses long documents of possible links for their various choices . When I first found delicious I thought this was a great alternative, for students to share bookmarks. I am wondering if there is a social bookmarking sight that helps you set up folders like delicious does? Do you know of any? I have found edutagger , but it does not seem as good.

Nancy, thank you for the links. The sites are a great idea. I am looking for something that will allow the students to share links with each other. Frequently there are 10 different main topics that the kids are researching for persuasive writing. The students pick their own topics and thesis sentences and then I try to gather links that are with in their reading levels. I don't have a way for them to easily share links. I am trying to set up blogs for the project they are about to start, so they can submit a link if they find it.
Nancy - I seem to recall a link, I think from you, about an egg mailing activity. Does that sound familiar and is that something you can email the link to? Thank you!
Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!
That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.
We'd love to have your kids involved. Do you mind passing my message along to students and your HS colleagues again? I'll try gifteducation, too.
Hi, Nancy -- I'm writing to see if you can help me. I'm new to Classroom 2.0 I've read your posting policies but want to know if it's kosher to post something like what I've pasted below. I don't want to be doing the wrong thing. This seems like such a great resource for teachers.
Thanks for your help -- Lisa
Hi, everyone,
I'm Lisa Miller, and I'm a professor of journalism at the University of New Hampshire, where I also teach a digital storytelling class for K-12 teachers. I've been working in elementary classrooms over the last year and am writing a book on digital storytelling for elementary teachers. I want to interview other teachers who've done digital storytelling projects, using Photo Story 3, with their students, and also perhaps feature student projects in the book (with student/parent/teacher permission, of course). If you're anywhere near New Hampshire, I'd be glad to come help out in your classroom!
You're holdin secrets. . . .LOL! ;) its so much great stuff and great people, I'm overwhelmed. I'm not a tech buff, but anything that will make my classroom better and my student learn!
I'm a newbie to the site and the first message I receive is from the Hilton Hotel in London asking me to 'please' work there and offering to pay my flight and visa fare!!!
I do remeber having to wait for my approval, so what about this obviously NON educational content???
If there are NO filters on this site I will be unsubscribing very soon.
Please let me know what the site safety protocols are and who is supposed to be vetting of content.

Hi, Nancy, I am a newbie. I was interested in the workshops and e-mailed Steve but it came back so yours was the first name on the list to ask for help. Are they online or in person? Is there a minumum number of people needed? What is the cost involved in hosting one? Can it be done in Lima, Peru? My name is Gigi and I will check back for your answer
I was wondering if you could help me out. I signed up just a little while ago and placed the wrong picture in my settings. Both Anne Mirtschin and Steve H. gave me suggestions. Steve suggesting the settings link and Anne the left column. Short of my quitting 2.0 and signing up again, do you have any suggestions? I think the picture of my daughter-in-law with my grandchild is lots better than mine, but still. . .
Thanks.
Linda
I think I'm doing that. I hit a browse button, locate the image (picture in my iPhoto library, which is where I located the present image), and clicked the button. Steve H. said to contact him next week about a ping. I don't know what that is. Thanks for reply. Linda
Nancy,
I just joined Classroom 2.0 and was so pleased to see your name as a host. I've written you before to thank you for your web pages, A Different Place. It's one of my favorite resources and continually useful.
I do our elementary gifted program and constantly mention your page to my colleagues in the district. Each year more of them go to the page and some have used your units. I first used Chasing Vermeer (had not heard of the book or Vermeer). Thanks to this link I now have a passion for Blue Balliett and her books. I then started doing book groups in the regular classroom with her books.
2 of my gifted students made a podcast recommending The Wright 3 last year. We wrote to the author, she responded, and told us she'd just finished another book. One of those boys didn't know he liked mysteries until he read Chasing Vermeer the year before. The summer after reading it the family had gone to Germany to visit friends. The boy convinced his parents to take him to Paris to the Louvre museum and look for original Vermeers.
Hi,
Thanks for the note! I haven't blogged yet. I'm just learning myself. I do a lot of technology in my classes (because I like it and it's a big emphasis in our district). Our inservice speaker, Angela Maiers (who's a great educational consultant we've had before), emphasized Web 2.0 tools (I don't know if I'm even using the term correctly) and how we can work it into our new state mandate Iowa Core Curriculum. I bought a book called Web Literacy for Educators, started Facebook about 6 months ago, joined Twitter to get Angela's resources, joined our district's new wiki workspace that Angela set up, recently joined Classroom 2.0 and today found Gifted Ed 2.0! I'm exhausted! :-)
Thanks for the mention of Susanne Collin's Hunger Games. I haven't heard of that book. I read Mysterious Benedict Society this summer and loved it. I love that they're all gifted in very different ways and need each other in the team. I want to use it but haven't thought how yet. In Blue Balliett's response to us last January she referred to her new manuscript that's after the Calder Game. Although she didn't say if it was a continuation of the Calder, Petra, and Tommy series. One of my 2 students (who saw the Vermeers in Paris) was so excited "We're the first ones to know!" I didn't want to tell him that we probably weren't the first.
The Wright 3 podcast is on my website-
http://www.howard-winn.k12.ia.us/elemtag/K_8_GAT/Podcasts/Entries/2009/4/8_The_Wright_3_by_Gabe_and_Zack.html
and on the Albums link I surprised them with the letter and took a picture of them with their autographed bookmarks. "More students 2009 album"
http://www.howard-winn.k12.ia.us/elemtag/K_8_GAT/Albums/Albums.html
I also linked different parts of A Different Place to my parent, teacher, and student resources page.
When you collaborate with other classes do you put them on the web? The lack of privacy on the web still makes me nervous. Holy cow, enough long notes!
Nancy,
I sent a message to Steve on his Ning page asking about the hosting of a workshop for our teachers in Lima, Peru. If he answered it, I can't find it. I do go back to that page periodically and check but if it is there I can't find it. Any other ideas on how to get the information?
Hi Nancy,
I am new to Ning and want to connect with a teacher in China. I invited her but she couldn't join. Then, she tried to access my page from the outside and a blank page just saying NO SERVER or something. I am wondering whether Ning may be blocked in China. Any idea?
Thanks
Stephanie
I am a newbie to social networking. I recently joined Ning. I have a question: In order to send a comment to a member who replied to another member's post, do I have to invite him/her to be my colleague??? I wanted to ask this person for additional information about the topic discussed.
Another question: In Classroom 2.0 introduction, you mentioned that new members must be approved but until then we can peruse the site and join the beginners group.
How do we know when we have been approved so we can introduce ourself???
Nancy, I see you are a Host and I'm wondering if you can help me out. I want to create an RSS feed from my School 2.0 page and place it on my school district blog but I don't see a feed generator on School 2.0
Hi Nancy, I just stumbled upon your blog and it looks like we're exactly on "the same page". Thanx so much for sharing such a valuable resource. Here are my sites...you're welcome to use any of my resources also: http://sites.google.com/site/faithsfiles/ - I hope it's okay that I posted you as a resource under Blogs that I follow, and my school website is http://www.bzkids.org/.

I'm looking to talk to someone about classroom 2.0 who might be able to help us build out our NING/education site www.innerkids.ning.com. Do you have any ideas who I should contact. Thanks.
Hi Nancy, Wondering about the collaboration between Classroom 2.0 and PBS to do webinars via elluminate. We do professional development with teachers via elluminate for the Museum of Modern Art - so I am wondering about a possible collaboration...
Thoughts?

Hi Nancy I rec'd an email on 11/5 saying that Abigail Martin has added me as a colleague and an email on 11/8 saying that Goodness added a comment to my page. However, I do not see any comments, and I can't tell where I look to see if I've been added as a colleague. I'm new at this and looking for some help navigating my way around. Thanks Carolyn
Hi Nancy, Thanks for the quick reply and the colleague invite. I saw that right away. Where do I control who can send me messages? I can not find where I am restricting it to friends only.
Hi Nancy! I am new to Classroom 2.0. I uploaded a few photos to my page, but I just realized that they are visible to anyone. I went to privacy and changed the settings to Just Colleagues, but they are still visible to anyone on the web. Do you have any idea how to block the photos to only 2.0 users? Thanks!

I placed a video by embedding it in the video section and it is HUGE..a vimeo video. Can I delete it from the videos and if so how do I do that. I have explored the site but can't seem to find a way.
Howdy Nancy, I'm building a learning management system and I want to post a survey about the usability about blackboard so I can figure out what teachers like and dislike in a learning management system for when I build my own. I just don't know where I'm allowed to post it on Classroom 2.0. Would you assist me?
I am Neeta Dang, a member of Classroom 2.0. However, I have not been able to participate in programmes like Webinars, etc., as I have failed to log onto 'Eluminate' a site recommended to me. I reside in Kolkata, India and am a college lecturer. I have also written a short peice on my page, if you feel curious.
Thanks for your time and if you could tell me how to benefit more.
Nancy, I love the image that you have posted of the boy in Cameroon from the Newsweek article, and I have enjoyed browsing your "A Very Old Place" (not to mention learning about TweenTribune from your more 'current' blogsite)....Now I have a pretty basic question about Classroom2.0 (since you are a host =) - What's the difference between a "groupie" and a "friend" on Classroom2.0? Like, could I be both your groupie and your friend...? Why would I do one, not the other...?
Thanks in advance !!
