About Me
My name is Jenny Burroughs and I am the Distance Learning Support and Scheduler for Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES in Western, New York. Right now we service over 22 school districts which means hundreds of Polycom and Tandberg units in schools. We have been using our Polycom units primarily for virtual field trips from various providers. Our Tandberg units are primarily used for meetings and courses. Right now we are continuing to grow. Primarily my focus right now is to find collaborative partners from all over the United States and the world. If you are interested in collaborating with us please let me know.

Yes, our country has daylight savings at the moment, but that stops at the end of March and that may make the situation worse! Time zones always confuse me. I live in a gmt+10 hours timezone which is gmt+11 at the moment.

I would love to do that. Time zone differences tend to be a problem though as it is about 8am as we comment today, (Australian time) and it is your evening time.

Also another tool we use here at our districts is Adobe Connect. I'm not sure if you utilized this before.

I do not have any polycom equipment at all. I work with the most basic of equipment but that hasnt stopped us doing virtual travel with my kids. We have 'walked through' the batik markets in Western Java, Indonesia with a teacher who had a laptop and external modem, watched it snowing in Korea etc but that was with skype, a data projector and the visuals projected onto my classroom wall. It was still clear enough to see what was happening.

Gee Jenny that was quick to respond to my comment. I should have also said that I teach accounting and Information Technology to secondary students. Do you do any virtual work in those areas? or field trips?

Hello Jenny, I teach in Australia and have used videoconferencing with my students for them to meet schools in many countries. We have listened to a lecture from the Middle East, worked with students in Indonesia, USA, Canada, Thailand, Phillipines etc However, I just have a data projector, computer, white wall and speakers. We use skype to videoconference, or elluminate or discoverE. I am trying to work on virtual field trips as my school is rural, geographically and culturally isolated. So, I am really keen to learn more from you and/or share/collaborate with you.
