I am a strong supporter of using technology in the classrooms to facilitate learning and making lessons interesting for the students.
That is why I have recently launched a vocabulary building website:
This website has a collection of short, simple and fun video clips with pictures, illustrations or animations and an audio narration to correctly pronounce, define, and provide examples of words in context. The website is a great learning and teaching tool equally benefitting both students and teachers. My goal was to create something which can aid students in improving their vocabulary and at the same time help teachers in developing new and interesting ways to use in classrooms for teaching new words.
By the way, we are starting to do some really cool things with cell phones in the classroom. The kids feel really comfortable in that environment, and focus more on the storytelling than the technology.
I just found the message that you left me on classroom 2.0. Please check to see if you can log in, and let me know. Sorry for the long delay. We will start posting a material for the start of the school year some about the middle of August. Hope all is well.
With your interest in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
Yes, if you watch the promo video that you posted, you don't nearly enough time to read the text at the bottom of the vocabulary card. The Burns effect on your still moves too quickly and the text is too close to the edge. I think you'll get what I'm saying if you watch your video and try to read the cards as the video plays.
I'm amazed at your website. What a fantastic resource. I am afraid that people will not give you a chance with the promo video that is sub par quality. I think you would be better off posting an actual vocabulary video on this site as a sample. Those are very professional and powerful!
Hello again Faiza...
My pleasure to have you around on our ning page. Sorry for not being in contact as often as I'd like but I've been rather busy at CCBEU these days - tests and compositions and projects...You know what it's like. I really wish I had some 5 extra hours a day - that would be fine (lol).
Thank you so much for the invitation. I'll certainly visit your space and let's keep in touch. This is kind of new for us down here and I've been in charge of the implementation of web 2.0/technology in the classroom.
