I'm a middle school teacher just outside Detroit, Michigan. I co-host a podcast for middle school educators called Middle School Matters where we talk about current topics in middle level education.

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!
That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.
Do you mind passing my message along to students and your colleagues again?
Morning. . . : )
Yes, life is very busy. Funny you should mention Washington DC. Pat, my hubby, just got back from DC -- gone a week. I am attending my district's 19th Annual Career and Technology Faire. Saw a couple of excellent speakers last night. . . more today. . . . Hope your podcast went well. I will be missing CR2.0s session today. . . because I will be attending the conference and in a session with Ryan Teeter-- co wrote some books on google apps and sites and chrome. . . . Hope to learn lots. Luck raising $ for DC. Take care and hope to talk soon. . . : ) J
Hey Shawn! Thanks for mentioning it in the podcast and passing along the info. That is really nice of you. We have done a couple now for some other websites like youthvoices. If you are ever in need of guests, I'd be happy to fill in and blab about the contest.
With your interest in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
Hi Shawn! Hope you're enjoying the winter break. I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get Michigan students involved. Please let me know. Thanks!
