I am a secondary special education teacher at the high school level in Anchorage, Alaska. I am very new to Web 2.0, however I am dedicated to bringing opportunities for my students to develop skills in areas of need as well as to develop skills for the 21st Century which most definitely include tech literacy and Web 2.0.
Additional Background
I moved to Alaska at age 18 to attend University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF), and have never left. I am celebrating my 20th year in Alaska in 2009. I graduated from UAF with a BS in Geography as well as regular education teaching credentials. I moved to Anchorage in 1994 to attend the University of Alaska, Anchorage (UAA) special education endorsement program. Upon earning Special Education, Mild Disabilities, Secondary credentials, I began my teaching career at West Anchorage High School, where I have taught for 13 years now in the special education setting. During that time I completed my Masters of Education- Special Education. I also married, had two incredible boys who are now 9 and 6.

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!
That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.
Do you mind passing my message along to students and your colleagues again?
I'm in the 21st Cent. conference Voice Thread session. How ironic it was also on the Elluminate session last Saturday! Hope your conference is going well.
How was the C2.0 presentation this morning? I was very interested in it. . . the rl ones attended in person was wonderful as well.
Right this minute I am in a session with Lynne Schrumm. . . . do you know the name?
Your presentation idea is awesome. . .want to talk w/ you more.

Hey, sorry you missed the C 2.0 session. Enjoy your conference this weekend! Hope to chat with you soon. Going to put together a proposal for a presentation on PLNs for teachers for NMSA.
Hi Jenny! Things are really busy! I imagine they are on your end also. I snagged the concession stand for the girls' basketball games to raise money for the Washington D.C. trip. Here I thought things might slow down once grades were in for the end of the semester! lol
Hi Jenny! Hope you're enjoying the winter break. I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get Alaska students involved. Please let me know. Thanks!
