Sure, Jack. I'm working on an issue on Film - if you're interested in contributing or asking a student to contribute, here's the focus:
March/April 2009 – Film (Co-editor Carolyn Fortuna) Editorial Focus: Considers the purpose and process of teaching students to use film to compose, consume, communicate and think critically and creatively in a visually saturated world.
What are key theoretical foundations might ground our pedagogy? What are the basic aesthetic and critical elements (grammar, conventions) of film composition and viewing and how do we teach them? How can we engage students in some of the key ethical issues that arise from film studies? What resources and audiences should school librarians know? What are school librarians doing to teach students to become fluent, critical and creative film viewers and producers?
Jack,
This site has come a long way and it's great. I have passed it on to our English Curriculum Coordinator and High School Principal, and a few others who are interested in using innovative strategies to teach. I hope you see some Watertown High students in the upcoming contest : )

I'll see about getting it on next week's Middle School Matters podcast (www.middleschoolmatters.com). Thanks for the heads up and I hope the contest goes well!
Hi Jack,
We'll pass the word around on the new contest. It's math and science MCAS crunch time in Massachusetts, so time will be at a premium but we'll see what we can get done. Even teachers and students that didn't submit were intrigued with the concept of the last contest. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Jack, we had so much fun with brainyflix and especially liked the publicity afforded by the local newspaper article. Unfortunately schools in our area are dismissed for the summer by Memorial Day. I'm not sure that my colleagues can squeeze in another project before we head into AP exams, graduation and then finals for the underclassmen. I'll give it a shot.

I'll pass it along. May be a little harder to get students into it, as they are finishing up their projects as the school year end looms near.
