What occupies me lately? I wrote a book with coauthor Suzie Boss titled "Reinventing Project-Based Learning: Your Field Guide to Real-World Projects in the Digital Age" Suzie and I are meeting with lots of teachers and educational organizations to support new practice. We are excited about the promise of pbl and professional learning in the web 2.0 era, where important learning functions (collaboration, learning anywhere, many more) are made possible through a myriad of new and emerging tools.
I've just started another book on the topic of inquiry. I'll be listening deeply to my Classroom 2.0 colleagues to learn what how they foster a culture of inquiry and guide deep learning through PBL.
Hi Jane. I was wondering if your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some other educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
I am a student at Georgia Tech in a class studying Online Communities. I am interested in Classroom 2.0 because of its unique outreach to educators. I would like to ask you about types of activities I can become involved in to better my understanding of the site. In addition, I would like to ask if you are interested in participating in an interview with me, about your own experience on this site. To find out more information, please visit
Hello Ma'am..
I m a student of electronics engineering.I have Classroom 2.0 as my term project for ICT (Information and Communication technology) course.
MY project specifics are: How to efficiently use the available Classroom 2.0 online resources to increase learning/ productivity?
I have few questions regarding the Classroom 2.0 as follow:
1. When was Classroom 2.0 launched for general public officially?Date?
2. What else or which organization or people were involved with you in the creation?any co founders?
3. Who sponsored it?
4. What is there for a student in classroom 2.0?Other than reviewing or commenting on other teachers blogs?
Also if you could direct me to some resources or eading material regarding related to my project.I shall be grateful.
Thanks in advance.
You got a great thing going.CHeerz.

I'm an education grad student in the Houston area; just signed up with Classroom 2.0 today -- trying to figure out if it'd be a good forum for conducting a survey for an action research project. I'm still working on the survey, but will need to connect with a number of English Lang. Arts teachers when I've got it ready. I assume I can put a link to my survey on me Classroom 2.0 page? Can you tell what the best way would be to reach out to ELA teachers specifically to ask for help with this?
Hi Jane...I play guitar and sing. I have been playing instruments since I was a kid, but have never had any formal music training. I learn by ear and by color...like the notes have a color....for me it's all instinct and not about the notes on the page. Are you a musician too?
Hi Jane: Yes, I'll be sure to do that. Just wanted to get registered and will get back to it when I have more time later this week. It's very unseasonable here indeed..I need to get out. BTW, I worked at OMSI and had many nice memorable trips to Eugene teaching for the museum. There was a great vegetarian restaurant there that I always went to, but can't remember what the name of it was.
I feel a bit like I've fallen down the rabbit hole. I'm a teacher-trainer in NewMedia and Technology and most of the time feel like I've been knocking my head against a wall (I live in Germany).
In the last week or so discovered Ning and one group leads to another and holy moly arrived here-- and I got some catching up to do!!
ah, Govinda's! yes, that's it. love it! nice to know it's still there. i heard about the science cafes. my friend Marilyn Johnson at OMSI has run a few of those there.
I am very new to 2.0. I am taking an online course through my school district called 23 things (its about 2.0) I am also in the process of applying for a very large technology grant. My goal is to have my kids blog their daily journals for math and science in an effort to improve their English communication skills. I teach newcomer ELL students. Do you have any awesome ideas that would help me to implement this. I was thinking netbooks, flip cameras, Ipod touch and well, I am not sure what else would get the students as excited as I am about blogging and communicating .
Hello Jane, I have co-hosted here with you for a while, but have not really connected. Just want to say that I have really enjoyed reading your book "Re-inventing Project Based Learning" There is a wealth of information and material in there.
Thanks, Jane. Will you be in Orlando for ASCD's Annual Conference next week? Hashtag is @ASCD09; I'm hoping to find some fellow tweeters while there! Great way to find out about different sessions.
Thanks for the input -- am discussing changing my research focus with my professor, but may still be able to use my Classroom 2.0 page; I'll know in the next couple of days.
I created the "cool sketchy profile pic" with a little help from Photoshop's poster edges effect. I think also used the noise effect to give it the grainy look.
Thanks Jane! I am very much interested in learning as much about instructional technology as possible! I am working with high scholl students who are thinking of entering the teching profession and so far, I've stayed ahead of them with technology. But I have to put my running shoes on or I'll trying to catch up!!!
Thanks for the input. We are looking at a 25,000 grant that would support technology for a team of 4 of us. We have discussed net books for blogging and research, flip cameras, and ipod touch for creative purposes. I would like them to keep journals of their work.
the really cool thing is 1/2 of the kids are ESL newcomers, mostly Spanish, and the other half are taking Spanish classes. We think it would be awesome for the ESL to use their English to develop their language skills. and the other half to use their Spanish... We also want to set it up so that kids could take equipment home so that they can teach muligenerationally and everybody wins. I would appreciate any ideas as we are writing this grant now and really need input. thanks.
Jane,
I am new to Classroom 2.0 and need some help. As a former Oregonian, you seemed to be a good person to contact. I teach Microcomputer Applications at a small Liberal Arts College in Northern Vermont. My desire is to revise the course making it web2.0 based. Can you direct me to some resources?
Thank you

Jane-I am presently participating in Cyber Camp with Bud Hunt and we are using your book for our Professional Study Group. This is my first day on Classroom 2.0 so I wanted to make that connection.
HI Jane
I am new to Classroom 2.0
I am really interested in joining the Elluminate sessions. I have checked that my computer is set up- I think but I have as yet not been able to join a session because of the time differences ( I am in Australia ).
I want to try on the weekend. I have had a look at all the tools and clicked here and there but I am not sure how to go about participating.
Can you help or give me some guidelines?
Thanks
Gail
I am looking for a class that is interesting in a skype long distance debate with my class this semester. I teach 8th grade U.S. History. Last year we debated against Terry Parent's class out of Hollywood, California. The topic was Democratic Republicans vs. Federalists. I would like to repeat this event yearly. Perhaps even more than once a year. Anyone interested...especially a class in a time zone that is closer to us, please email me at susan.gorman@gcisd.net. I am in Central Time Zone. The time zone is important to consider because working with the class in California (I am in Texas) was a "juggle." Although, it was worth all of the effort.
Can you help with this...can't find anyone interested?

Yes. The south coast is beautiful. I'm planted here either surfing or watching the ocean.
We lived in Eugene too. It's a great place to live as well.
Thanks for the welcome.
Pictures were of our trip to Havasu Falls- in a side canyon of the Grand Canyon- really great place- I'm really interested in PBL- think Dean Groom will be at school this summer to lead us in some stuff-
Jane,
I'm not familiar with this project. Our district uses a lot of Lucy Caulkins' work to support writing. I was more interested in sharing instructional strategies with teachers, with vivid verb lesson as the vehicle. However, the applications of these strategies fit any subject.

I'm a teacher from Uruguay, Latin America, and I'm new to this community. I have some doubts about the webinars. Because of time differences among countries it's almost imposible to attend to events live. However I read on Classroom 2.0's e-mails that you can access recordings. Some of them I found but there was one of particular interest for me that I couldn't find, the name was Web 2.0 Students, What is it all about?
Could it be that there aren't recordings of that?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Jane,
Journey North would like to integrate Classroom 2.0 into our existing programs for K-12 students. Journey North involves over 23,000 classrooms by engaging students in the study of animal migrations and seasonal change. We'd love to partner with you to pull some of these teachers into Classroom 2.0 so they have a way to communicate between themselves and the writers for Journey North. Could you offer some suggestions about how to get started? Thanks! Mary Hosier, Journey North
Thanks, Jane. I can put out an invitation. I think this would be an excellent way for our teachers to meet each other. I assume you have the Classroom 2.0 site set up to filter spam and profanity. Of course I would monitor the group, but it is a concern since I'm busy with other content. Could you comment on this?
Jane or anyone is there a blog here somewhere dealing with the process of writing and publishing a book? I'm looking at self publishing on fast pencil as it appears a good idea is still hard to sell to a real publisher.... Unless you are famous and then thay come to you! LOL Thanks
HI. jane. I had a picture of yours even before I knew that you were a host here and doing innumerable other things. My query is how can I participate in the programmes of classroom 2.0 about which I get information through my mail. I have a page of myself in the Classroom site. Thanks in advance.
