Why not a Twitterchallenge, you ask? This challenge is extended to the entire social network and to those who are online (which one must be to read about the challenge) but not in any particular social network.
I challenge you to navigate to two blogs to which you have never been, read their thoughts, reflect on their posts, & then leave an intelligent comment which you should use the word 'networkchallenge' in one word within your comment. Once you have met…

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.
The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly…

Well there finally here, the days I've been scheduling from my website form for the last 4-5 months... Tablet pickup days! We made it through our first two days, wow am I tired, now only 5 more to go! It's hard for me to believe this day has finally arrived, we've been preparing for 7 years for a one-to-one computing program and it's finally here. Things went well through the first two sessions, I hope, and pray that they continue for the other 5. W.C. Fields is often quoted as saying, "Never…

EdTech Gold Rush
It’s been ages since I’ve posted a new blog entry and I feel pretty guilty about that. The machinations of the California school district budget woes have a way of holding everyone in thrall. It’s a crazy system that hands out mass lay-off and re-assignment notices in March and then blithely re-hires staff months later with the promise of going through the entire process again next year. Just one of…

Cross post from my other blog :Scratch@MIT Conference
We just returned from presenting at the Scratch@MIT conference at MIT in Boson. If you are not familiar with Scratch, it is a new programming tool developed at MIT. Students imagine, create, and share games, animations and more. This past year we used the software in my fifth grade elementary technology classes. Also, students formed a club to continue to learn more ways to program using Scratch. I did not realize how important…

So what did you get out of Chapter 1...besides not screwing with that guy in New York? I was thinking about the power of blogging. With the London train incident there were people posting pictures and blogging about it right away. I have been playing with my new phone and thinking of what a powerful tool it has become. Posting pictures, text, video clips, audio, immediately to a blog is…

To me, Web 2.o means embracing new ways of interacting and engaging others. It might be through social interactions or it might even be by way of productivity resources to help you do what you do easier and more efficiently. That being said, as I was playing with the App Store for the iPhone, I came across some apps around flashlights, games and to do lists - quite a few I might add. And it occurred to me — is there something meaningful or telling in the fact that there are so many of these…

I played hookey from summer school! I know I'll need to look at this in January (the month that never ends in Nebraska). Coming back I have a bunch of unedited photos, 2 moodle courses about half done, a new college class assigned, and no personal artwork. What I did get done is a good long look at web 2.0 applications, some good, lots clunky or underperforming.
The Good?
VoiceThread, Timetoast, Moodle(sometimes), Google sites &…

I'm almost done with a whirlwind week exploring Web 2.0 with my 6 public school teachers and my own school's marvelous Director of Multicultural Affairs. The crowning moments of today featured a Skype chat with our own founder, youknowwho. I added it to my Classroom2.0 Videos, and
here's a link to that :) Steve has some very very interesting things to say about Web2.0 and our ongoing efforts to define and deal…
